Maryland Residents Attorney Services
From the beginning, we have focused our practice on Maryland estate planning and administration not only for those affluent individuals needing sophisticated tax planning, but also for those families of more modest means concerned with ensuring that their loved ones are protected against unwarranted claims, a bad marriage, or simply making unwise financial choices. As our practice in Maryland has matured, we have expanded to include elder law, including issues with respect to long-term care, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and Elder Abuse. Despite our growth, however, we continue to take a very personalized approach to our representation of clients. Accordingly we first must ensure that we are a good fit for our clients and that they are a good fit for us. For this reason, every potential client receives a 20 minute initial consultation free of charge. For each client, our office attempts to find solutions for his or her specific needs. And those needs may extend beyond traditional legal services, particularly in the case of someone who is disabled, suffers from a degenerative disease, or has some cognitive impairment.
It’s hard to talk about our law office without considering the personal experiences of its principal, Clifford M. Cohen (“Cliff”). Many lawyers promote themselves as taking a personalized approach with clients, but few have actually personally endured the hardships involved in providing care for an elderly family member themselves. It is these personal experiences “My Personal Story”, that have driven Cliff, towards the practice of Elder Law and to be an advocate for all of our elderly who too often have been left to fend for themselves. As Cliff has often said, “Representing the elderly takes more than just legal skills, it takes someone with patience, who truly cares about the people and values more than just financial reward”.
Our firm services clients in Maryland, DC, and its surrounding areas. We are sensitive to the needs of our clients, particularly those who are elderly and already somewhat fearful and uncomfortable with open-ended hourly billing. Consequently, whenever possible, we quote flat fees or a definitive fee range so as to diminish anxieties. Our goal is to service our clients and not necessarily charge for every minute of our time.
